Flavio Tomas’ diving header to complete his hat-trick in Farsley Celtic u19s’ 6-0 derby victory over UFCA in today’s lunchtime kick-off was assisted by defender TJ Kongolo’s instructions, according to Tomas.
“TJ really helped me on that one because I was about to go back post and he said ‘go front post and spin out’ and I did exactly that and I couldn’t get there [to the ball] so I dived at it,” said Tomas.
“I feel that’s one of my biggest strengths. The team like to play it to me over the top and I like to attack the ball with headers.”
Tomas described the derby match as a “must win” with several familiar faces in the opposition squad.
“Our team knows a lot of players from their team and vice-versa so before the game we were like ‘this is going to be war so we have to win this’ so we switched to that mentality of must-win.
“Everyone’s happy. We’re on a winning streak so the mood is great.”
