Yorkshire Amateur’s new dawn under the new management duo of Casey O’Reilly and Jake Boyd began with training preperation this week ahead of the trip to Penistone Church in the NCEL Premier on Saturday afternoon, kick-off at 3pm.
O’Reilly is happy that initial targets, from the opening training session, were met.
“[The early priority] is to refocus and align ourselves with mid-season targets, uniting the players and make them believe in themselves,” began O’Reilly.
“Individual development will add value to the development of the team as well as the players themselves.
“The first session was fantastic – the intensity, the application and drive. The goal of the session was achieved”.
Boyd started as a centre-back in Ammers’ 3-0 defeat to Penistone just two weeks ago which will add to, but not complete, his scouting mission on the opposition.
“We know about them, we know how they play, we’ve got specific things we need to prepare for,” explained Boyd.
“But it is a transition into how we want to play, things aren’t going to happen overnight, we need players to be brave, open to change, but we’re all really excited about those changes.
“We will try our best to implement that style as best we can on Saturday because we need three points, we need as many points as we can between now and the end of the season. So we need the players to be brave and from playing with them, I know they’re exactly that”.
Opposition: Penistone Church
Penistone Church, based in the parish of Barnsley, play at the Parker Roofing Memorial Stadium.
Church currently sit 6th in the NCEL Premier, on a 9-match unbeaten run (W 8) including a 3-0 victory over the Ammers in the reverse fixture just two weeks ago.
The 9th of November was the last time Church were beat, in the visit of Maltby Main who left 2-0 victors.
26 goals scored in six matches has assisted Penistone’s form.
